Accessibility
This website has been created with the aim of being accessible to as many people as possible.
CSS styles are used in this website, which allow the user to override the default fonts and sizes if they prefer. Semantic markup has been used that separates the layout from the content meaning that all content is available no matter what device is used to view this site. All important images have been given alternative descriptions to make the site more accessible to text only browsers. This also allows users to employ assistive technologies such as screen readers if they wish.
The use of unnecessary animations and multimedia files is minimised to reduce page loading times and ensure that important information is not missed by those that cannot view such files.
Web standards
Our website is designed to adhere to the W3Cs web standards, making it more accessible to those visitors on platforms other than PCs such as mobile phones, Apple Macs, Linux or PDAs. This site has also been developed using the W3C tests for accessibility.
Impairments
The text size can be altered to suit those with visual impairments, and the graphics can be turned off to aid navigation. Navigation is clear, and available on every page. We also aim to give navigation links and pages descriptive names to help users find their way around. Headings and lists are used whenever possible to add clear structure to our site. The graphics and navigation are turned off when the pages are printed, to ensure better printouts.
